CRAZY ABOUT WINTER

Thursday, December 10, 2009

Call me crazy, but, I LOVE WINTER!!

I love snow flying around me as if I were in a Snow Globe. I love the feel of cold crisp air kissing my cheeks turning them a rosy hue. I love the snow covered trees and the beauty of Black Crows against the white landscape. I love the way wind whips around me tossing my hair about my face

Children making Snow Angels and Snow People always brings a smile to my face, remembering that I too was once a child and enjoyed such things. I still enjoy them, just not with the same innocent joy of a child.

I love Winter clothing. Sweaters, coats, hats and scarves, all in a variety of colors and styles. My hair always looks best in Winter. It is so much easier to straighten my curly hair and keep it that way.

Cuddling on the couch, wrapped in warm blankets with my family and watching holiday movies with them gives me feelings of warmth and love. There seems to be more laughter at this time of year in my house. The girls trying to figure out what is under the tree and hoping Santa visits them soon.

I love the feelings that Winter brings to me. Love, joy, laughter, warmth of heart and all around good cheer!!

What do you love (or hate) about Winter?

Those are all wonderful reasons to be crazy about Winter, BJ. Loved your choice words.

I have always loved winter for many of the same reasons. Definitely like my winter wardrobe more than my summer.

Although we don't get a lot of snow here anymore in southern New Jersey--or at least where I live--we do ususally get hit with at least one big snow. I love watching my dogs running and hopping and playing in it. I love looking at it. I did NOT love having to shovel my driveway last year when Steve was away. Took me three hours. Thought I was going to have a heart attack.

Other than that... I'm crazy about winter, too. (Now expect a totally different take from Barb/Elle!)

Hi Beth,
Dog's are funny when they play in snow. Draco, our Doberman, likes it best. I can't believe nobody helped you shovel. Where were the neighborhood kids? We help our elderky neighbors every winter. Chris even had to pick Reba up off the ground a couple years ago. That was a funny sight!

Happy you like Winter as well.

I don't have a lot of time right now so this will be brief. I'll expand tonight when I get home from work.

I EFFIN HATE WINTER!

BJ... Regarding Barb.... told ya. *g*

Regarding shoveling... We don't really have any kids that live near. Someone did drive by with shovels and asked if I anted them to do it, but they were shoveling for money and--of all days--I got snowed in with NO money in my purse. So, I smiled and said, "I'm okay. Thanks." Oh, well. On the other hand, it felt good to know that I could fend for myself with my man.

I think it's great that you and Chris help out your neighbors. Spread that good will!

Hi Barb, I know how much you hate Winter. As a child you liked to play in it. Do you remember tying a sled to Dancers saddle and having him pull us through the snow? That was fun!!!

SIS BJ said...

Hi Beth, You were right about Barb/Elle. I was just waiting for it. I'm sure we will get an ear full later about all she hates about Winter!!!

I am not a very big fan of winter either. Of course I love the holidays. I also like how beautiful the snow looks outside the windows of my warm house. And I agree with you on the hair thing - mine always looks better in the winter too.

I am an absolute wimp when it comes to the cold. I hate how it makes my whole body ache. I don't like having to drive the girls to school when the roads are real bad. It makes me nervous and tense. That's not how I want to start my day.

I totally agree with Beth on the shoveling. I think I spent at least half of last winter with a shovel in hand. Trying to clear paths in the driveway to get out. An hour later the path would be drifted back over!

BJ, you must be doing backflips today!! It's a balmy 7 degrees right now. On top of that, there is a great breeze for you too! I'll be hiding in the house.

SIS Brandy said...

Oh yeah I forgot... The funniest thing about Barb/Elle hating winter is the fact she lives in one of the coldest states in the US. What was she thinking?!?!?!?

SIS BJ said...

Hi Brandy, I don't like driving in the snow either. Of course I don't have as far to drive as you do. I'm used to shoveling snow at work so it doesn't bother me as much. I just bundle up and get to it. Yes it is very cold out today. I will get to enjoy when I walk to the bus stop this afternoon.

Brandy, I know, that is funny. She wants to move to Florida. Hopefully that happens for her.

We're having a lot of cold weather and I love wearing the sweaters, layers, pulling out different shoes since sandals aren't good for winter wear. :}

The make up slut also changes her look. Gotta have the new goodies to go with the new looks. And I changed my hair style in Oct.

Sadly, a lot of idiots moved out and abandoned their cats so they hang out in our back yard when the dogs aren't out or in our front courtyard. Fine by me. A few of us are looking after them with food, shelter and cuddles.

Hi Linda,

You wouldn't believe the people I see walking around in and flip flops in cold weather. I think they are crazy.

I like that I can wear my red lipstick in Winter. It doesn't look good in Summer.

Thank you for taking care of the kittys.

I'm with Barb. I'd rather be wearing shorts. I don't like being cold. When it's cold outside I'm in more pain than usual. It's annoying. On the other hand, I don't like it hot and humid either. *g* I'm a desert rat at heart.

SIS BJ said...

Hi Tori, Sorry your in pain more in Winter. I always feel better in cold weather because my allergies act up as soon as it gets warm. I hate sinus infections.

Here's hoping you stay warm this Winter!

My husband wears tshirts, shorts and flip flops all the time while I'm in a long sleeved tshirt and cardigan or hoodie and jeans.

I wear red during the summer but look more for a gloss and a bit warmer shade. That works.

This month is great for all reds too. I have red sparkly nails and toes.

SIS BJ said...

Linda, My oldest daughter would love sparkly red nail polish.

Your husdand sounds crazy. I love Winter, but not that much.

Elle J Rossi said...

Wait, wait, wait. Hold on a minute. Yes, I live in one of the coldest states in the US but need I remind you people that it is not by choice. I love my husband but he told a little tale before we got married. He said we would be living in Florida within 3 years. Can you say SUCKER and put my face right next to that word? It's going on 10 years and still, here I am in the frozen tundra freezing to death! But I'm not bitter. NO. Not at all. I love him but sometimes I want to shake the heck out of him.

Anyway...Ms. Linda. Please correct me if I'm wrong but aren't you residing in a fairly warm state???? I would give anything to have worn a cardigan today. But it was not to be. Today we had the wonderful wind chill factor of 20 below zero. Argh!

Now I will list some things I hate about winter.
1) It's freaking cold.
2) It's very grey.
3) Not enough daylight hours.
4) It's freaking cold.
5) Snow sucks.
6) Black ice sucks.
7)Heating bills are enormous.
8)It's freaking cold.
9)It's freaking cold.
10 IT'S FREAKING COLD!!!

And now, so y'all don't thing I'm a total downer, I will name 1 thing I like about winter.

MY SASSY BOOTS!

Have a nice day. I'm off to sit next to my space heater.

And yes, BJ, I have fond memories of Dancer pulling the sleigh.

Oh, Linda!

I almost forgot. I stopped by The Body Bakery this morning and I'm excited to say that Raspberry Chocolate and Mint Vanilla Latte are headed my way. Wahoo!

SIS BJ said...

Hi Barb/Elle

I knew you wouldn't let me down with that list. Just think, after Dec. 21 the days will start to get longer. Of course it will still be cold. Can't do anything about that. Sorry.

Good luck on the Fla. thing.

Elle J Rossi said...

Thanks, BJ. I'd probably do better with the cold if the days were longer so I look forward to the 21st and beyond.

I love Christmas. And I have birthday in winter, December 31 - yep, I'm the New Year baby.

SIS BJ said...

Hi Olga,

That's so cool, a New Year Baby. You must have some great birthday parties.

I hear ya, Elle. Those two and a half years in Boston really cured this CA girl. I grew up in a town known for surfing and transplanted there was a big shake up for me. The only good thing were visits to Salem.

I knew you'd go nuts at Body Bakery! You should have seen their Halloween scents. Smelled them too. I use them all the time for prizes when I do big contests.
