Almost Here

Tuesday, December 15, 2009
Good morning everyone. I'm filling in for Brandy today because she isn't feeling well. I'm sending healing thoughts her way.

I am almost done with Christmas shopping. Just a few things left to get. Candy for the stockings and new toothbrushes that the kids get every Christmas. I know, who wants a toothbrush for Christmas. I am happy to say that they actually like getting them.

We have done our family tradition of going to see holiday light displays and eating at White Castle. We don't have one in town so we look forward to the trip to get our Sliders. I remember dad taking us all the way to Indy just to go White Castle. Thank goodness we don't have to drive that far anymore.

While I will be happy that the stress of the holidays will soon be over, I will be sad when it ends. The day's won't seem as magical when the wait is over. I am looking forward to getting up Christmas morning to watch my little ones open their presants. They are so excited they can hardly wait. I am getting excited as well. I feel like a kid again waiting for Santa to show up.

How about you? Are you ready for Christmas?

Hugs to Brandy, and I hope she will feel better soon. Well, presents still need to be wrapped, some cards signed, so I guess I'm not as ready as I should be....

Never a fun time to be sick!

I'm like Olga. Still have wrapping to do and goodies to make. I make my orange/vanilla fudge for hubby's office Christmas luncheon and need to get that done.

Hi Olga,

I still need to wrap Santa gifts. I like to do that on Christmas Eve. Get's me in the spirit.

Hi Linda,

You are right. It's never a fun time to be sick.

I love fudge of any flavor. Hope your hubby's office enjoys it.

Hugs to Brandy! Hope you feel better soon!

I'm never ready for Christmas. :) It always seems like I'm running behind!

Hi Tori,
Are you one of those people who runs around Christmas Eve trying to get your shopping done? My husband is that way.

The fudge is a staple for their holiday lunch. The women always ask him if I'll make it. I generally make two batches and it's gone in seconds.

Plus it's actually easy to make and tastes just like a creamsicle. I also make a candy that's like Snickers.

Hi B.J.

Thanks for filling in on such short notice! Hugs and kisses to Brandy (kisses through a mask though)! I hope you feel better.

As for me and whether or not I'm ready...NOT! Besides the traditional ornaments I have only bought one gift and I did that this morning. I'd better get on the ball!

Glad you're so prepared! I agree with you about feeling like a kid waiting for Santa. I get that feeling too!

Hi Linda,

I love that you make fudge. Our Uncle used to make fudge. He actually made a living making his fudge. He would sell it at carnivals and fairs and such. It was mmm mmm good!

Every year I make these things called noodle stacks and pass them out. Every one loves them. And they are so easy to make. I make butterscotch and chocolate.

I'll make you a deal...send me some of your fudge and especially that snickers type candy (Snickers is my fave!) and I'll send you some noodlestacks!

Linda,

The Snicker like candy sounds great. We made cookies and they are almost gone already.

Hi Brenda,

Did Grandma make candies like that? I think I remember something like noodlestacks. They were great.

You better get busy on that shopping!

B.J.,

Nope, not Grandma, but Bev. I got the recipe from her years ago. They are sooooooooo easy. I'll e-mail you the recipe and you could cook some up in no time.

Hello everyone!

I'm pretty much done shopping and for sure will be completely finished by Friday. Yippee!! I wait to wrap the kids presents til Christmas Eve and then I pour myself a glass of hard lemonade and go to town wrapping!

Still have to send out my cards but should have that done by this weekend.

Thanks for talking about fudge, Linda. We sisters have very fond memories of fudge and I still enjoy it to this day. I think my favorite flavor by far is Maple, however I recently discovered a coffee flavored fudge and can I say...Delish!

I'm still at work but I hope to comment more once I get home.

P.S. Dear Bren and Linda, Please send me some of each of your desserts. Please, please, please and thank you.

Happy Holidays!

Chiming in with yet another fly-by.

I have bought one present. One. Probably I'll be buying the others last minute and some will be late. Happy New Year.

My holiday decorations include--the Christmas theme on My Yahoo homepage, a Christmas sock monkey ornament I receievd from mom yesterday--hanging on my bullitin board above my laptop--and the snowman candle Steve bought me yesterday for my desk. That's it for the entire house. How sad is that?

Candy--Fudge--Hodson's Fudge. I'll have to blog about those memories someday. Noodle stacks... didn't Grandma Miller call those snickerdoodles? As for Grandma Childers... she always made homemade carmels and popcorn balls. Yum.

Ookay... back to the deadline book...

B.j.,
Just talked to Mom and she refreshed my memory. Yes, Grandma Miller used to make those noodlestacks. I don't care who makes them, they are yummy!
