Wall of Fame

So here's the thing. I wanted to write an educational and entertaining post pertaining to rolling with the punches in your career. I have a lot of thoughts, what I think is good advice, and also a few examples per my experiences. The problem is my week was jammed and I do me JAMMED. I worked my butt off and I'm happy to say fulfilled all my obligations. However, it left me brain dead. Can't put together coherent thoughts for the life of me this morning. So... I'm copping out and borrowing a question a friend of mine posed on Facebook. I actually had fun reading people's comments. Thought I'd see what you had to say. Here it comes....

I'll go first. As a kid I had posters of Bobby Sherman and David Cassidy hanging on my bedroom wall. Stop laughing. They were really cute and sang fun songs. And I was a goody-two-shoes. What can I say?

As a teenager... I ordered a blow-up poster of the Cosmo centerfold of Burt Reynolds posing nekkid on a bearskin rug. Stop laughing. He was really hot back in his 'Smokey and the Bandit' days. We were living with my grandma at the time. She thought he was hot too. Then again she had a thing for the Gunsmoke dude. By the way, Burt posed due to being 'dared' on late night TV by the magazine's owner. Having a great sense of humor, he accepted the challenge. I think he's the first naked man I ever saw!

Okay. Your turn. Question of the day...

What poster was hanging on your wall as a kid? As a teenager? (sharing the name of the first nekkid man you saw... optional)

Too, too funny. I must confess...My walls were covered with New Kids on the Block and Boyz II Men. And though these "other" photos weren't naked, they were very close. I hung pictures of body builders all over the walls. Huge, muscular men with bulging veins and fake tans. What was I thinking?

Hi Beth

Love the picture of Burt Reynolds. I had pictures of sk8ers on my wall. Tony Hawk and Natas. The most naked would be Hulk Hogan. I loved the WWF.

I remember Barb and her muscle guys! She went through a phase with those. They weren't nekkid but might as well have been with those teeny little bikinis they wore!

I also remember BJ's skater phase. And I too loved the WWF!!

I can't remeber having any posters myself. I don't think I ever got into them. I do remember the first guy I saw nekkid though. It was in person and it was fabulous! :)

The only poster I can remember having on my wall as a kid was Olivia Newton-John from 'Grease' in the outfit she wore at the end of the movie. Ahh, the good old days! I also had, and probably still have somewhere, a photo album full of pics of her I cut out of magazines back then.

As a kid, I too had Bobby Sherman and David Cassidy. :)

As a teenager, I moved on to David's brother Shaun and Parker Stevenson (his Hardy Boys co-star). Oh, I also had a poster of Sylvester Stallone. I may still have that poster somewhere. LOL!

These are great! What a visual. Keep sharing you guys. What fun. I know I must have had other posters but those are the onesthatstick in my head. Oh. I do admit to cutting out magazine photos and making a scrapbook of Rick Springfield. I think I was in my early 20s. Uh... that's kind of embarrassing. :)

Beth,

Not as embarrassing as having friends that claim you look like Rick Springfield!

Oh! Now that you mention it, I can so see that Krys! Now, of course, I have 'Jessie's Girl' blaring in my ears....

Hmmm...so many, but I guess I'll stick with Jon-Eric Hexum, Tom Cruise, Jon Bon Jovi (in the big hair days!), and a half-nekkid "love a guy in uniform" poster.

No Shaun Cassidy poster -- but I did have a t-shirt. ;)

This topic cracks me up! LOVE the poster of Burt Reynolds, Beth. I kinda did a double take when I first saw it posted here on SIS!

Who did I have on my walls as a pre-teen/teen? I've always been a big fan of Johnny Depp since his Nightmare on Elm street days. I had different posters of him. Actually, I still have screensavers of him on my desktop. Also, don't laugh, I had these ridiculous crushes on Rod Stewart (loved his raspy voice), George Michael (he sang such dirty songs), and Bon Jovi (do I need a reason for this one?). Another really odd crush was Bruce Boxleiter on the tv show Scarecrow and Mrs. King. I taped a magazine cutout on my wall of him and Kate Jackson together. Not sure why he floated my boat. Probably the whole espionage thing. I've always had a 'thing' for spies.

Last but certainly not least, SuperMan adorned my wall. Christopher Reeves was my hero. And, in my opinion, in real life he also died a hero.

Beth, I collected all things Bobby Sherman. I still remember when Mom got tickets for me and my friends to see him in concert at the Cherry Hill Arena. (A roller rink that also served for concerts.) I believe he wore a burgundy-red vest and bell bottoms pants suit as he sang, "Julie, Julie, Julie do ya love me!" Post Cereals used to have Bobby Sherman 45s on the backs of their boxes. Yes, you could actually cut them out of the box and play them on your record player.

For those of you too young to remember earlier than CDs and iPods, we used to play records made of vinyl and vinyl-like materials.

I was also a huge fan of the Monkees and the Beatles!

Beth, that was a very fun post! Lol about the posters. To be honest, Bobby Sherman's choice of pink shirt was probably not the best one. No comment on Burt Reynolds' choice of, um, wardrobe. I'm trying to remember, but I don't think I had any posters on the walls while growing up. Calendars, well, is a different thing....
