Florida

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

I am fortunate enough to live in one of the most beautiful places on Earth. At least I think so. I guess Florida's not for everyone, but it's definitely home for me. I love it here.

Yesterday, my mom asked if I would drive her to the beach to watch the sunset. Boy am I glad I remembered to take my camera. It was a gorgeous, breezy evening and as we sipped our sodas and listened to a great duo, I snapped some beautiful pictures of an amazing Florida sunset.

I love taking pictures, and viewing the pics from last night inspired me to share some photos I've taken here in Florida. I hope you'll enjoy them.

Near our home is a cemetery where a great number of peacocks roam free. You can get pretty close to them as you can see.

I snapped this picture of a sunrise over Tampa Bay. It was pretty tricky since I was driving.

Although pelicans are funny looking, they're amazing to watch as the soar close to the water and then dive in to make their catch. This one is taking a break from fishing.

These last pictures of from the sunset last night. The colors were so vibrant!
I hope your day is filled with beautiful sunrises and sunsets!

Great pics!! They are beautiful. I really love Florida. I wish I could get there more often. It's been quite a while since I've been there!

Brenda,

Thanks for reminding me that we do indeed live in a beautiful state, even though our particular county is fully developed and there's no more land left to pave over. It might take some doing, but there's always some natural beauty to be found here if you look for it.

What cemetery was the peacock picture taken at? I want to see them! The sunset pictures last night are amazing, and I think you should consider sending them to the St. Pete Times newspaper, they'll most likely publish them!

Mary Stella,

I can't believe we still haven't visited you in the keys. We really must make a plan. I'm sure you have some beautiful pictures of your own. We'd love to share them here at SIS. Please send some our way!

BJ,

Out of all of us, I think you may be the only one that loves the cold. I say you have a second home in Florida that you can visit on occasion, snap pictures and then hang them on your walls in the colder state! Actually, we should all have one home in Florida we can make our getaway!

Brandy,

I haven't been there in a while either. I'm really looking forward to our next trip!

Krys,

I've been to that cemetery many times. I have gorgeous pictures of the peacocks. There are a ton of them. It's in Dunedin. Bren can give you the directions.

Tori,

Do you have any pics you can share of your beautiful state?

Beth,

Thanks. Bren actually inspired me to start taking pictures. It's fun and I love that two people can take a picture of the same thing and come up with completely different shots!

Elle,

I'm thinking we should all get a house in north central Florida, like somewhere near Ocala. It's still pretty rural up there but you're only a short drive away from larger cities and each coast. It gets pretty chilly in the winter and warm to hot in the summer. There's plenty to do as well. Sounds good to me!

Krys,

Oh my gosh! You're buying us a house? I should say, "No, that's too much." But you are just that type of guy so instead I'll say, "Thank you so much and make sure I get the master bedroom with the spa bathroom attached!"

Elle,

And not only that, I'm buying some swampland and a bridge, too!

Oh, those pictures make me crave the water and beach even more. I've been thinking alot lately about how much I'd love to live in Florida. I hate the weather we have here in Indiana, I would be so happy with winter. I want clear water, real sand and palm trees. And the beautiful sunsets. I know I'll never be able to live there but I am so planning my next extended weekend vacation so I can relax with my toes in the sand. But until then I'll just keep being jealous of you, Brenda, who gets to live in the most gorgeous state.
