Lack of Experience(s)

Tuesday, May 11, 2010
There are many things that I have not experienced in my life. I'm not talking about big grand things. The experiences I am talking about are things that probably most people have done. My friends and co-workers always just laugh when I tell them "nope haven't done that either." They've heard me say it a million times.

I have never been to a concert. As much as I love music, I have never had the experience of watching someone famous on the stage. It is something I would really love to do. I guess the opportunity will arise someday... maybe.

I've never been on a boat. Yep you heard me right. No boats of any kind. Not a speedboat, a cruise ship, a fishing boat, a ferry... none of them. I am not scared to, just haven't had the chance to.

I've never been out of the U.S. I've been to many places in the states just nowhere else. Up until a year ago, I had never even been west of Texas. I would love to go to the Caribbean or Italy or Australia. I am sure someday my time will come.

There are many other things I've never done. Lots of small but "normal" things. Things most people take for granted. Like skiing or ice skating. Never experienced either of those as well. I could go on and on with my list.

I've had plenty of great experiences in my life. I am not whining by any means. I just know I need to figure out ways to fit new things in my life. Life is about experiencing all that you can... I'm just a little behind pace.

What things have you not had the chance to do yet? What's on your to do list?

Brandy,

Don't be too hard on yourself, I'm sure once you leave the monastery you'll have lots of opportunities do so stuff. KIDDING!

There are two things on my 'bucket list' that are going to stay there forever. I've always wanted to bungee jump and sky dive. Several years ago I had an MRI of my spine and lets just say that it's a really, really good thing that I hadn't tried skydiving or bungee jumping.

Those will never happen, but there are things still on the list that are possible. As soon as I can find exactly what I want I'm getting a tattoo. I want a wolf tat but I'm very picky and want it to look like a wolf, not a dog. I still want to spend some quality time in snow, like skiing or making a snow angel or life-size snowman, not just the limited exposure I've had so far.

Like you, I've never set foot out of the country and I would very much like to, especially Ireland, Scotland or England. New Zealand is also high on my list, but it takes forever to get there!

I'm sure there's more that I haven't thought of. I've had a pretty full life so far and I can't complain, but I'm sure there will always be things on my bucket list that are waiting to be done.

I'd like to go snorkeling but I couldn't go for very long because my insulin pump isn't waterproof. :) I know there are other things I'd like to do, but I'm drawing a blank off the top of my head.

Krys,

I've been thinking about a tattoo lately myself. I'd really have to find the perfect one though to make the jump.

I'm out on the bungee jumping and sky diving. Neither of those things interest me at all. I'd probably die of a heart attack before it was over with!!

Tori,

Snorkeling would be cool as long as theres no sharks around. Hey maybe we can invent a waterproof covering for your pump!

Hi Brandy,

Believe it or not I'd love to learn how to knit! The couple of times I've tried, my fingers cramp up. Plus I don't get the whole loop and needle thing. Guess I'll keep buying my scarves and shawls. :)

I've had the opportunity to try and do a lot of things, so I can't think of anything else off the top of my head. Except.... Id' like to see Alaska someday. And Scotland and Ireland. Also I want to go back to Italy. So magical. Oh! I LOVE to learn to play fiddle/violin!

I'm thinking you and Omar need to take a Carribean cruise. :)

Hi Brandy

Great post. I would love visit every state in the U.S. I din't think it will happen, but it would be cool.

I'll hold your hand hand while you get a tat. They don't hurt as much as you would think.

Hi Brandy,

Great question. I really have to think about that. I've been fortunate that I've been able to do many things.

I would love to be with you at your first concert. It's a wonderful experience. I'll just have to get you liking country music! Then it'll be my treat!

I think I would like to try snow boarding. AS long as it's warm out and no snow. Oh, I guess that's surfing. I'd like to try that too!

hmm, I do have a bucket list and on it is a number of things. I'd like to go white water rafting, scuba diving, bungee jumping, I'd love to swim with dolphins, travel to Ireland, Australia and the Bahamas. Stupid as it seems I'd also like to go zip lining. I would love to take the kids to Disney world. I also want to see the hollywood walk of fame and maybe with any luck run into Will Smith. I can dream right :) I would also like to compete on a reality show, like the Amazing Race.
doubt I'll get any of those accomplished though
