Just a couple recs

Let me start off by saying thanks to SIS B.J. for swapping days with me. I greatly appreciate it and it was great to see you for that short while on Tuesday. I hope our next visit will be a little longer. Now off to my ramblings…

I drove my mom back to Indiana on Monday. Dang, that’s a long drive. We listened to a lot of radio along the way and one song in particular stuck in my head. I loved it so much that I had to call SIS Barb and ask her who sang it. It’s called “I Pray for You” and it’s by Jarron and The Long Road to Love. It’s a country song, but you simply must have a listen.

While in Indiana, I got to spend some time with my brother. He was working when I got there, so I hung out with him at work for a while. Then we went to his house, had some awesome homemade vegetable soup (Thanks Pam) and then settled in to watch some movies.

The first was “I am Legend” with Will Smith. It was nothing at all what I expected, but still, it was pretty good and Holy Wow was Will Smith ripped.

I can’t even remember the name of the second movie and I was distracted with a Rat Terrier named Spot who relentlessly made me play fetch! He’s so cute!

The third movie was “The Blind Side” with Sandra Bullock. I really loved this movie. It’s based on a true story and not only was it a great story, it left me with a wonderful feel-good feeling all over and reminded me that sometimes, incredible things can happen.
Make sure you take the time to watch this movie, I know you won’t be disappointed!

Do you have any movie recommendations to share? Or maybe you can suggest a song for me to learn to sing with my duo. By the way, we had our first gig on Friday night and it was great! We’ll be returning to that venue on a regular basis. Wish me luck!

Congrats on the gig Friday night! Do you guys play and sing any late 60's songs? I'm currently hooked on hippie/folk music. And in case anyone wants to make fun of me here on SIS, I'm ready for you! lol I also like a lot of 80's music, country, and rock.

About Sandra Bullock, all her movies are good. She can go from comedy to thriller and pull off both pretty easily.

Sounds like you had a great time visiting your brother. You really weren't too far off from where I live here in Indiana.

Hi Alyson,

I love hippie music too! We do Happy Together from the Turtles and Whiter Shade of Pale from Procul Harem. I'm sure there's more, but I can't think right now. I would love to do some songs from Sills and Crofts and America... Any suggestions?

Elle mentioned that you live in Indiana. Could you at least have had some sunny, warm weather while I was there. Sheesh! I only brought flip flops with me and my toes were cold!

I applaud you for making that drive. The older I get, the less I like to travel out of my comfort zone--which is about a one hour radius. LOL

So glad you got to spend time with Bobby! AS to the movie recs... I'm afraid to see I AM LEGEND. Looks to scary. BLIND SIDE is on my list of things to see! I've heard nothing but great things and I ADORE Sandra Bullock.

Last night I watched NEW MOON. I really enjoyed the prequel--TWILIGHT--and do believe I liked this one even more. Very teen-aged angst-ridden, but I was toatlly sucked in.

Welcome home!!

Hi Beth,

I guess I didn't remember the trailers of I Am Legend as being scary. I really had no idea what to expect, but I never thought it would be scary.

I tried to read TWILIGHT and couldn't seem to get into it. I really should try to read it again. Then, I could watch the movies...

BLIND SIDE was sooooooo good. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

DID ANYONE LISTEN TO THE SONG YET? YOU SIMPLY MUST!

Bren,

Me, suggest songs to you? I'm not worthy!! Okay, maybe a little. I'm putting together a list, as soon as I whittle it down to under 100 I'll send it to you.

Unfortunately I haven't seen any new movies in a long time, not even the two you mentioned.

Bren,

I love that song. Somedays, I feel exactly the same way--though I won't say who it's directed towards.

I have not seen The Blind Side. I hear it's amazing and a tear jerker. Perfect. I think I'll watch it alone.

I have many country songs I could recommend for a duo. Are you interested in that at all?

I hate country, but I LOVE that song.

My rec. I watched a tv show last night called The Good Guys. It's a very funny cop show. Love the old rock music in it.

Hmm, let's see, there's the Mamas and the Papas, the Monkees, and Creedence Clearwater Revival to name a few.

You sing Whiter shade of Pale? I LOVE that song! Happy Together is great, too.

I laughed about the flipflops. No kidding, my feet have been cold too. But I refuse to stop wearing my flipflops and sandals. This is one of the coolest Mays I remember having for a long time.
