While reading the news on Yahoo yesterday, I came across an article about actress Helen Mirren. She revealed that she regretted getting a tattoo in her younger years. While reading this article I noticed a link that said something about plastic surgery nightmares, so I clicked. HOLY MOLY! Some of them I had seen before, but, what are people thinking?
I’m not sure that I’m against plastic surgery. I guess it’s a very personal thing. I don’t think that I would opt for it though. There’s not anything on my body that I hate so much that I want to change it. Not yet anyway.
And then there’s the chance that something could go drastically wrong. Some of the pictures I saw prove it. Can you imagine going in to have your lips done and coming out looking like you “just made out with a bee hive”? (I stole that from a celebrity roast).
So for me, right now anyway, no way Jose! I can deal with what I have. If it doesn’t look good, I’ll try and disguise it for now.
What about you? Would you like a little nip and tuck here and there? Would you have your lips injected? Or are you just happy with what you’ve got?
Check out these pics and then be sure to answer.

Brenda,
You and I must be on the same wavelength. I almost wrote about this yeasterday. I was thinking about growing older and the things we do to keep ourselves looking young.
I have thought about going under the knife, but not sure that I ever would pull the trigger. I've always felt like my chest is sort of out of proportion with the rest of my body.
When it comes to any kind of facial surgeries, I am totally out. I wouldn't want to be stuck with that crazy look of suprise that some people appear to have. And I definately don't like the blown up lips! We all have such cute noses, so I wouldn't dare touch that either. :)
Bren,
Oh, I'd do it. Absolutely. I'd research the hell out of my doctor first but I'd do it. Oh yeah. Absolutely.
Those pics are pretty scary but I think that many just don't know when to stop. Now they look like idiots when (probably) after the first 1 or 2 surgeries they just looked fresher and more rested.
But that's just. Yep. I'd do it. Absolutely. (if money allowed!)
SIS Barb
Hi Bren
No way for me. I like the way I look, funky toe and all. I like how my toe freaks people out. Can you believe they think I make it lay like that on purpose? For those who don't know, my pinky toe lays on top of the toe nest to it. My youngest daughters middle toes do the same thing.
Bren,
Nip and tuck, hmm, yes, I would if money allowed. I'd have some work done on my abdomen to fix the 4 surgeries I had there. Smooth and even it out. I kept telling them they needed to put in a zipper, but they didn't listen, sigh...
I'd have a face lift. But I'd be sure the doctor who would do the procedure was experienced, and I'd check for malpractice suits. I've had friends who have had face lifts and reconstructive surgeries without any problems.
I think there are people who become addicted to the * beautiful* look and go way to far. No removal of ribs for me.
Brandy,
I know that crazy look of surprise, and it cracks me up. I'm sure lots of people get face lifts and come out looking beautiful. But look at poor Priscilla Presley, who along with a couple other famous ladies, somehow trusted a fake doctor and had silicone (Home Depot grade)
injected into her beautiful face. I feel awful for her.
SIS Bren
P.S. I think you are beautiful...and think of all the cute tops you can wear that I could NEVER wear.
Barb,
I'm sure there will be a day that I want something done. Honestly, I wouldn't mind a tummy tuck, but that seems too painful. And I've thought about a breast lift, but then I heard they move your nipples too...ouch. I guess I'm not ready yet.
You are also very beautiful and I wonder what it is you would have done...

I LOVE your pinky toe. I think it's great and it was an awesome conversation piece for Jerry who is always looking at people's feet.
It's funny that people think you lay it up there on purpose.
Glad you're comfortable with yourself. You have no reason not to be. You, too, are beautiful.
SIS Bren
Hi Sia,
A zipper? Interesting thought and a funny one too.
I wonder why it is that people become addicted to these surgeries. I can understand the first few, but then it comes to a point that they just start looking hideous. How big does a person's lips or bust need to be?
SIS Bren
To anyone wanting a lip or breast enhancement...
I'd gladly allow you to have a doctor suck the fat out of my hiney and inject it wherever you see fit. If you put it in your lips, I'll always think of you as kissing my patootie!
SIS Bren
I have no desire to have plastic surgery. Unless, y'know, I could be guaranteed to come out looking like Louise Brooks (a knockout silent film star). *g*
Hi Tori,
I don't know who Louise Brooks was (I'm assuming she's no longer with us), but I'm sure she was beautiful. I always think silent film stars look elegant. Well, maybe not Charlie Chaplin.
SIS Bren
How funny that you raised this topic, Brenda. I've spent the last week researching plastic surgery and the newer non-surgical procedures. Not because I'm having something done, but because I'm weaving that obsession into a new story proposal.
It all started with those pics of Heidi Montag in PEOPLE magaize. I didn't even know who she was. (I'm a little unhip these days, I guess) Then I read the article and watched a few vid clips of her being interviewed. I was shocked and saddened on many levels.
In my reserch I came across the very link you shared today. Mostly, those pics were just plain scary. They certainly scared me off from plastic sugery, not that I was considering it. I'm way to worried I'd end up looking like a freak. (No, snarky comments, Barb)
However, I must confess, the non-surgical treatments I've been reading about are pretty darn tempting. I'm talking about things beyond Botox. Things like 'skin tightening' and 'liquid laser face lifts'--too name a few. I can't imagine ever being able to afford it, but if I won the lottery, I'd consider one of these non-invasive (no-knife) procedures. Maybe.

By the way--not to horn in on Brenda's day--but I'm guest blogging at The Sisterhood of the Jaunty Quills. Please stop by if you can!

Hi Bren,
Well since you asked...cellulite reduction on my thighs in whatever form they need to do to take care of the situation (lipo, jiggle maching, I don't care just take it out of me!)
I'd have line filler or something around my eyes. (just a tad)
I'm sure I'll think of more later, but that's enough to get me started.
And Beth, no snarly comment necessary. You said it all!
SIS Barb aka Elle J Rossi
I used to think a little Botox for the line between my brows, maybe a little plumping for those lines around the mouth. Then there's that fear that I could end up lopsided or there would be a problem. And anti aging creams don't hurt. :}
Nope, no plastic surgery for me, at least not yet (who knows what will be in years?) But I definitely wouldn't want anything injected into my lips.
