Pushing Through

Monday, June 14, 2010

I'm sure we all go through times where we become a little lax, a little stagnant. During those times it seems to become harder and harder to get motivated, to push though. It's not as if things are going poorly. It's just that life may be a little smooth and when that happens, we'd be crazy to rock the boat. Right?

Wrong! I think that it's during those smooth times, when the water is crystal clear without a ripple on its surface, that we must push ourselves further, beyond our comfort zone.

My water is so smooth right now, it looks a little like ice. I think if I tried to skip a pebble across it, it would bounce back and hit me in the head. That would be the pebbles way of telling me to WAKE THE HECK UP!

I'm writing, I'm reading (something I've allowed myself to do to fill the creative well), I'm spending time with family,  but what I'm not doing is pushing myself past a comfortable limit. I know I have a lot more in me. I can I can do more, be more, be better. And because I know this, I want it.

My fantastic CP, Alyson Reuben, has set a deadline for my Paranormal. I have to have it completed by the end of July. It doesn't have to be prefect, but it has to have an ending. I'm nervous. Really nervous. I won't disappoint her or myself. I will have it done. I must have it done. But what happens after that? Many things, that's what!

Speaking of Alyson Reuben...I'm guest blogging at Silk and Shadows today and I'd love if you could stop by.

I've also redesigned my website. Stop by. Let me know what you think.

And now for today's question...Are you awake? Are you pushing through? Are you jogging through life or doing everything you can to win the race?

I wish my life were a bit stagnant. It's exciting but at the same time I'm juggling.

I was just at your website. It looks great!

I know all about juggling, Edie! How many more hands could you use?

Thanks for stopping by my site!

How I wish my life were a bit stagnant., Instead, lately it's more like a soap opera. I keep telling myself it's fodder for my muse, but she's getting cranky because I don't have as much time for her. :-)

Off to check your website. I'm sure I'll love it and I'll be cheering you on to that finish line for your wip. :-)

Thanks, Mary Jo!

I'd watch out if I were you. An angry muse can cause a lot of trouble!

Ah gee, fantastic CP? Shucks, I'm blushing. You're too good, Elle!

In answer to your question, I'm definitely pushing my limit right now. Like Mary Jo - my life is starting to feel like a soap opera. Family and friends are a huge part of 'As My World Turns'. And every available spare minute finds me plugging away at the keyboard.

On the other hand, there might be ways I could utilize my time more efficiently. It's something for me to seriously think about.

Blush on, Alyson. The color looks good on you.

I'm still thinking you should write a small town story. You have so much material ripe for the picking.

I've done almost nothing since I had the hard drive crash. Not because I can't, mind you, I just haven't felt compelled to do any writing.

Your website looks great. Good luck meeting your deadline. I know you can do it.

I've been through times like that as well. Before long, you won't be able to resist the pull. It always finds us and reels us in again.

Thanks for the confidence. I'll remember it should I start to flounder.

As you know, Elle, I love, love, love your new website! Very profesional. Hop and bold--like you. Also like the new look of your personal blog.

Reagrding your question... I have spent the past twelve eyes running like a mad woman, trying to win the race. I ran of steam this past year and have spentthe last couple ofmonths catching my breath. Presently, I'm reevaluating my lifestyle and career. I've decided I have a better chance of winning the race if I pace myself. So I'm slowing down in certain aspects, and focusing intently on others.

Godluck with your deadline. I KNOW you can do it! As for me, I don't have a deadline now, but I'm writing like I do... without the stress. :)

Okay. Your comment made me laugh. Apparently you're running now, because your fingers skipped over a few keys!

But I get what you mean and I will just say...Run like the bad guys are on your heels and not letting up. Dive like the cops in movies do and then get up and run again!

I feel as though I'm constantly pushing through and unfortunately not getting far. But I'll keep pushing, because that's what I do.

Love your web site and kudos to you for wanting more of yourself. If anyone can achieve all their dreams, it's you.

Thank you. Just remember the race isn't over until you say it is.
