Book Titles

Wednesday, June 30, 2010
I've been in bed for three days now and starting my fourth.  Apparently I have some sort of bug that I can't quite kick.  I'm hoping this will be my last day!

You'd think lounging in bed would be fun, but it's not.  The first day wasn't so bad because I slept all but two hours of the day.  The other days have been spent with sleep and then a couple hours of channel surfing and then more sleep.  I'm freezing, I'm hot.  Yadda, yadda, yadda.

Last night while in and out of sleep I happened to hear part of an Alan Alda biography that was on the television.  They were talking about books he had written.  I don't remember the first, but the second one I heard was titled Things I Overheard While Talking To Myself.  I giggled a little and then went back to sleep.  I thought it was a really humorous and clever book title.

So, I've been up for about 2 hours now, it's time for a nap.  My question for you today is simply what clever book titles have you come across, if any?

Have a glorious day!

I think you're sick because you miss me so much! But seriously, that really stinks and I hope you feel better soon. I know it's hot out, but maybe sit in the sun for just a few minutes. Who knows if it'll help, but it's worth a try.

That book title is hilarious. I can't think of any quite so clever. I'll have to give that some thought.

I don't know if it's particularly clever, but one of the most oddball book titles I ever heard was From those Wonderful Folks who brought you Pearl Harbor.

The book was written by a top NYC advertising guy named Jerry Della Famina. The title was a throwaway slogan that he and his creative partners had come up with once when developing advertising for a Japanese company. No, they never actually used it!

The book was all about big time advertising and was a riot to read. That particular comment illustrated all the outlandish, outrageous, or just plain ridiculous stuff you spew out when brainstorming ideas.

Hugs, sweetie, hope you feel better soon!

One funny book title that sticks in my mind, I Gave You My Heart But You Sold It Online by Dixie Cash. :)

Brenda,

Get better soon! One of my favorite authors is Christopher Moore, and he has quite a few titles that make me chuckle:

You Suck: A Love Story
The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove
Practical Demonkeeping
The Stupidest Angel: A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror
Island of the Sequined Love Nun
Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal

If you want to read laugh-out-loud funny novels, I highly recommend Christopher Moore.

Barb,

Although it was very warm today, it was also very rainy. I actually didn't mind too much lying on the couch and watching movies with the boys.
And yes you're right, I'm sick because I miss you so much! Only a little over a day left!

Mary Stella,

That book sounds really interesting. I always thought it would be cool to work for an advertising company and sit in a room with people and toss ideas around. I imagine you'd come up with some pretty outrageous things.

I'll have to look for that book next time I'm at the book store!

B.J.,

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm feeling a little better now and think I'll have this kicked by morning. Please tell Monster I'm glad she's better and give her a hug for me.

Hi Tori,

Awwwww, thanks. I think your kind words have worked. I'm feeling better already!

Love the book title. It's so... now! I mean you can sell anything on line, can't you?

Hi Krys,

I'm feeling better thanks! Now stop yelling at me!

Those book titles made me laugh so I can only imagine that the books themselves are funny.

I've never heard of Christopher Moore. In which section should I look in the book store?

I thought maybe if I yelled your illness would get scared and leave :) I think you could probably find it in the Literature/Fiction or Comedy section. I know Borders has them.

I posted twice and lost them both! Darn it!!

Hope you're feeling better today, Bren!!!
