SIS BJ Says:
This week I am recommending upcoming movies I would love to see.

ALICE IN WONDERLAND: From Walt Disney Pictures and director Tim Burton
Starring: Mia Wasikowska as Alice
Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter
Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen
Anne Hathaway as The White Queen

Not only does the Theatrical Trailer look amazing I love Johnny Depp and any movie that is directed by Tim Burton.

ROBIN HOOD: Directed by Ridley Scott
Starring: Russel Crowe as Robin Hood
Cate Blanchett as Lady Marion

I am hoping that this portrayal of Robin Hood is better than those in the past. I love Robin Hood almost as much as I do King Arthur.

PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME: From Walt Disney Pictures and director Mike Newell

Starring: Jake Gyllenhaal as Prince Dastan
Gemma Arterton as Tamina

What's not to love about a hot prince out to save the world.

My Upcoming Movie Pick of the Week: ALICE IN WONDER LAND: March 5, 2010
ROBIN HOOD: May 14, 2010
PRINCE OF PERSIA: May 28, 2010

SIS Beth says:
Valentine's day is around the corner. Actually, it's tommorow! Why not snuggle with your honey on the couch, drink champagne (or the beverage of your choice) and watch a romantic movie? Personally, I'd go for a light-hearted or tender love story with a happy ending. Sorry. I don't consider movies, although they maybe labled as love stories, where the hero or heroin DIE as ROMANTIC! But, that's just me.

My Stay-At-Home Valentine Movies of the Week: While You Were Sleeping, French Kiss, You've Got Mail, Two Weeks Notice, Only You, Princess Bride, Jerry MaGuire, Notting Hill, Bridget Jone's Diary, Wimbledon, and Practical Magic

SIS Barb says:
My recommendation is short and sweet. Vancouver 2010! I plan to watch these winter Olympics every chance I get.

Go U.S.A.

BJ,

I'm dying to see Alice in Wonderland and Robin Hood. I saw the previews for both while at AVATAR and they look amazing!

I haven't heard of Prince of Persia. I'll have to look that up.

Beth,

I don't think I can get my husband to watch a romantic movie, but the Champagne sounds like a fabulous idea.

BJ,

We have the same movie taste! Those are all the movies I'm most jazzed to see as well. ALICE IN WONDERLAND should be amazing. Between the acting talent and Tim Burton--how can it miss?

ROBIN HOOD, however, could be a total miss. Depending on how they play it. The previews look awfully somber and dark. Part of the charm of Robin Hood is that he had a sense of humor. Versions that nailed it...
Errol Flynn - THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD (1938)
Sean Connery - ROBIN AND MARION (1976)
Patrick Bergin - ROBIN HOOD (1991)

That same year, 1991, Kevin Costner starred in ROBIN HOOD, PRINCE OF THIEVES. What a disappointment! He couldn't even attempt a British accent??

Another cool spin was the recent BBC TV series ROBIN HOOD. I think it ran for three seasons, maybe four, ending tis past year. Brit, Jonas Armstrong rocked the part of a 20-something Robin Hood.

Dont know much about PRINCE OF PERSIA yet. Off to find a trailor!

Beth,

I actually think I'll like this darker version of ROBIN HOOD. I think Russell Crowe will nail it! (Fingers Crossed)

Also, I heard great things about the BBC series of ROBIN HOOD. I may need to get my hands on that!

I'll be glued to the Olympics coverage for the next two weeks. Love the Games!!! Loved last night's Opening Ceremonies! Especially the Celtic/Punk/Goth fiddling and dancing!

Beth, I love Practical Magic. it's one of my all time faves!

Barb, Watched most of the Opening Ceremonies last night. I'm with Tori, the fiddling and dancing was great!
