Dream Big

Monday, February 1, 2010

Lately I've been having vivid dreams. Intense, vivid dreams. Draining, intense, vivid dreams.

I can't explain why. I've never been big on analyzing dreams. Although I do find it interesting that the people in your dreams aren't really who the dream is about. Really? So when I dream about my husband, I'm really dreaming about someone else? And if we should talk in our sleep and happen to say someone else's name, we can just tell our significant other that even though the person didn't look or sound anything like them, we were, actually dreaming about the significant other? Make sense? Yeah. Not to me either.

Anyway, let's get back to my most recent dream. It could have been because I'd just watched Twilight (again) and was discussing it with a friend. She's seen New Moon as well and I asked her if it was as good as Twilight. She assured me that it was/is and that I have to make sure to watch it when it comes out on DVD. She went into more (physical) detail about the wolves in New Moon. Sounds delicious!

So last night I dreamt of wolves. But not the shapeshifter kind. These were very real, very threatening wolves. In the midst of this dream, one leapt up to attack me and I blocked him hard with my forearm. When I woke up the next morning, my forearm was throbbing. I actually had to take ibuprofen to ease the discomfort but it was persistent. I'm sure I must have slept on it wrong but all I can think about was how painful it felt when I fought off the wolf. Weird? Yeah. I thought so too.

How about you? Ever have any lingering effects after an intense dream?

Hi Barb, Very strange dream. The only lingering effects I have had after an intense is a pounding heart. I hate how some dreams feel so real that you have to calm youself down before you can fall back to sleep.

Hi BJ,

If only we could remember all the details. We'd write some best sellers! Granted, it may be horror but dreams are definitely book material.

I've had lots and lots of strange dreams but I don't recall ever having any lingering after effects when I wake up. Very strange.

Tori,

Strange indeed. I'm sure that I must have either slept on it wrong or done something to it the day before but what if...Ya know? Part thinks it would be very cool if we could actually enter a "dream realm" while another part of me is screaming and running in the opposite direction.

Elle,

I have dreams so intense and real that I wake up sobbing hysterically and not really able to grasp where I am. Not fun.

Years ago, I used to dream that I had tarantulas crawling on my legs, only to wake up and realize that it was Kato, my kitty at the time, lying on my legs and probably kneading as kitties do.

I believe you probably slept on your arm wrong and due to what you've been viewing, reading, and writing lately, the wolves entered your dreams. Pretty cool actually.

Hi Bren!

You're right. Being confused and sad or scared after a dream is horrible.

I remember Kato sleeping on your head most of the time. I bet you about had a panic attack. I know how much you loathe spiders.

While uncomfortable. I did think it was pretty cool that I had fought the wolf. I am one bad ass!

What an intense dream, Elle!

I've had some that had me waking up wondering if it was a dream or somehow real. Some very nice, some downright scary.

I know what you mean, Linda!

Sadly, the scary ones tend to stick with us longer.

Yes, they do. I've had a couple scary ones I wish I could forget! Now if I wrote horror I'd be ecstatic.
