Just One of the Guys

Tuesday, December 8, 2009 11

For a long time, I have worked with a huge majority of men. My line of work sort of lacks in women personnel. I have always been ok with it, though. I've always said that it just means less drama. Somehow I am looked at as "just one of the guys."

The men I work with will do and say anything in front of me. Everyday I get to hear comments on how hot certain women are. I get to listen to details on the girl that one of them took out (or took home) last night. And heaven forbid someone trying to talk properly around me. They get an "Oh please - it's just Brandy!"

Most men can be really nasty!! I can't even count the amount of time I have had to evacuate an office. This would be to escape the foul smelling "present" that one of them has left behind. Hey I don't do that to them!! Why they gotta drag me into their little games!! ... Which brings me to slug bug. I get slugged like a guy! I know I am a big girl, but come on. Have a little mercy!

I have to make sure I don't truly turn into "just one of the guys." Heck, I even won the football pool the last two weeks. Scary, huh?

When I am off work, I try to do things to help me feel more girlie. I try to wash the guy shenanigans off me. Doing stuff with my girls really helps! Who doesn't feel like a total girl when you're shopping, painting nails, and doing hair? Nice long bubble baths, watching a "chick flick," and reading also do the trick.

Are you "just one of the guys?" What girlie things do you like to do?

Where in the World is SIS Brandy?

Tuesday, December 1, 2009 13

Ok time to have a little fun...

My day starting with me springing out of bed at 4am. Shoot!!! I am late!! My alarm clock didn't go off. Good thing I didn't have a plane to catch! I was driving to this sale. I got ready in record time. Showered, finished throwing my stuff together, and was pulling out of the driveway at 4:27! My drive was supposed to be 10 1/2 hours. I had some making up to do.

It was a beautiful drive. Raining the whole time, but still beautiful. I went through a lot of hills and mountains on the way to my destination. The appalachians are beautiful. At one point the directions took a very winding road right up a mountain. For an hour, there was nothing but 20mph curves and steep inclines. Amazing and a little scary at the same time. At one point, I was looking down (about 500 ft) a very steep drop off into a beautiful "raging rapids" river.

The trip was mad in record time. Cut over an hour off of the mapquest time. Some of the cities I passed were Cincinnatti, Lexington, and I even went through a "Big Island."

So about the town I am in... It's state is one of the original thirteen colonies. The city sits in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. There are six colleges and universities here - pretty amazing considering the population here is only about 75000 people here. This historical town was first settled in 1757. One of it's nicknames is " The Hill City." During the civil war, it served as it's state's capital for a whopping 4 days.

Is that enough? Can you figure out where in the world I am?

Butterflies

Tuesday, November 24, 2009 10

There are many feelings that can cause butterflies to creep up in my belly. There's the flip-flopping nervous kind, the burning scared kind, and the tickling anxious ones too. The ones I absolutley crave are the fluttering lovey ones.

I have been very blessed with lots of that kind of butterflies over the last few years. It amazes me everytime that feeling goes through me. How is it that someone can have such an effect on another person?

It's the littlest things that cause those butterflies to take flight. It could be a wink from across the room. Or an "I love you" whispered in my ear. Just reading a text from him sometimes does the trick too.

I get that fluttering feeling the most when he kisses my hand. I know it may seem like a very small gesture. To me, it speaks volumes.

Sorry! I'm done with the mushy crap!!

What gives you butterflies?

The to do list

Tuesday, November 17, 2009 9

I came up with a grand idea last week to start the game "Where in the World is SIS Brandy." I love the idea and I really want to do it! There's only one problem... I am not prepared for this week. This weekend was so hectic, and I was unable to research.

The problem with me is that whenever I decide on something that I want to do, I never find time to do it. I always blame it on my crazy busy life. It is sort of getting old. Surely there is some way for me to fit in these extra things that I really want to do!!!

So, I guess I am just gonna let you know the answer to this week's game. I am in Waterbury, CT. It is beautiful and so far I am actually enjoying it. The people that I am working with this week have been very cordial and inviting.

I won't be traveling next week, but the week after I promise the game is on!!

What is on your "to do" that you are having problems getting to?

In My Right Mind

Tuesday, November 3, 2009 8
I am a lefty - the only one in my whole family. I have always been proud of it. For some reason I guess you could say it makes me feel "special" (not that kind of special, Barb!). I once had a customer tell me that I must have some kind of gift. She said that God gives all left-handed people some kind of extra special talent. I'm still working on figuring out what my gift is exactly.

I did a little research on differences between left handed and right handed people. Some of the info on lefties is pretty interesting. First of all, we are known to be great leaders. Did you know that 66% of the presidents over the past 30 years have been south paws? That's pretty cool considering that lefties only account for about 10% of the population! Studies also say that we tend to be more independent, adaptable, and artistic. It also is said that left-handers are quicker thinkers and are more intelligent. For the most part, everything just says that me and my fellow lefties tend to be pretty amazing!!

I looked like crazy for info on the "normal" people, but there just isn't much out there. That's ok, though! The whole world was made for you people!! Scissors, tools, the computer mouse, instrument, guns ... the list could go on and on. Ok fine, maybe I did find a few nice things. It is said that the "normals" are more analytical, decisive, logical, and detail oriented. Right handed people have a longer life span too. That's crap!! It's probably because us lefties get injured having to use all the things made for righties!!!

Are you a lefty or righty? Do you think our traits are determined by which hand we use?

My Not-So-Glamorous Life

Tuesday, October 20, 2009 16

So if you have read my bio, you already know that I travel all around the country for my job. To a lot of people, this might sound great. Growing up, I would imagine how cool it would be to travel like my big sisters. There's just one big difference... they were singing - I am freaking selling cars!!!!!!

Each week on the road is so hectic and stressful. I rush (sometimes missing flights) to the dealership to set up the sale on Monday. The rest of the week I work from about 8am to 9pm arguing with banks, talking to customers, and keeping our salesmen's heads straight. Staying in a hotel isn't as glamorous as it may sound either. Sometimes we don't get to stay in the nicest of places. Which brings me to one of my most unglamorous stories.....

A couple of weeks ago we were in Bloomington IN. We had a hard time finding a vacant hotel, so we settled with a pretty shady looking place. By about day three, I noticed that my beautiful french manicure was turning lavender. That night, after taking a bath I realized that my towels were also turning purple.

Omar and I googled it. One article popped up about meth - it leaves behind a purple residue when being "cooked." Some guys at the dealership then told us that the hotel had been a meeting place for big drug dealers and there had been some shootings there. Great!! I was bathing in meth! Like I said before... not a very glamorous life!

So, my question to you is : How glamorous or unglamorous is your job?
