Stress Relief

Wednesday, September 1, 2010
The bills, the kids, work, car troubles, computer problems....The list goes on and on.  I am so stressed right now, I could scream and scream and then scream some more.  Usually they say, when it rains, it pours, but in my case.....it's a freakin' category 5 hurricane.  I swear!  Calgon....take me away!

Anywho....I just sort of had a melt down, so I slapped some leashes on my two best furry friends and out into the night we went.  We had a very brisk walk and walked quite a long time.  I'm not sure that I was able to get rid of all the stress, but it sure did help.  When I'm done with this post, I should probably go out again and maybe this time run.... or maybe I'll just finish the glass of wine I have sitting next to me.  That's a much better idea.

Normally, I am productive when I'm stressed.  I boot up my laptop and start writing...ah, but as I mentioned...computer problems.   My WIPs are on my laptop and it isn't working at the moment.  Probably should make copies of those, huh?

So...instead of writing on my laptop, I'm in my son's room, trying to type very quietly as he sleeps.  I don't think it's working.  He seems to be stirring around a lot.

I know this isn't all that thought provoking, but I need to wrap things up before I wake up Happy.  My question to you is...what do you do when you are stressed? (Somehow I think we have asked this question before here at SIS, but alas, I am old and my memory sucks!)

P.S.  Someone help a SISter out...I can't even paste my pic because that's on my laptop too!  :(

I tend to let stress fester until it hits the boiling point (I know, I know. It's unhealthy, but I'm being honest here). Then I try to just get away... whether that's taking a day off from work or getting out of town, I set aside an entire day that's focused on "me". It could be as simple as reading a book (like Beth's latest!) or organizing a closet, but I find that if I give myself the attention I deserve, everything else kind of just melts away. Hope the stress gets the heck out of your life, Brenda!

I ahve been under a lot of stress as well. Work, the girls homework, getting Smurfette to volley ball practice and a few other things. A glass of wine and an Edgar Alllan Poe story seem to be doing the trick for me.

Hope your days get better.

Exercise is supposed to be good. I wouldn't know. *g* I'd rather have a massage, personally. :)

When I'm super stressed, the only thing that helps is physical activity. Whether it's cleaning the house or taking a brisk walk. If I walk, I take along my mp3 player and listen to celtic music. Takes me to another, gentler place. Actually that works with house cleaning too. Another trick is to keep the mind active and productive so that you don't dwell on your problems. If your laptop is down, then try writing notes by hand. Start a new scene and freewrite. Lose yourself in a fantasy world. Works for me. :)

I hope you find relief soon!!!!!!!!!!

How do I deal with stress? I, like Berinn, let it build until I'm about to explode. Actually, I do explode. Sometimes it's in the form of tears, other times it's a stream of inappropriate curse words. I know that this is not the way to deal with it. Not a healthy way, anyway. But it's my way and I do not suggest that anyone attempt it. It is not fun.

Any luck with your laptop? Try Fonzie-ing it!

When all else fails, think of me and how much you love me and how funny I am. Yep, that'll work!
