My days have been very busy lately. Smurfette is in volleyball four days a week. Two days of practice and two game days. She finally won a game, which was good for the team. They were starting to feel a little down about losing so many games. They practiced hard and the results were a very well played game.
Monster is having separation anxiety. She cries and clings to me when I take her to school. I have tried to walk away from her but she just runs after me. The school counselor has been very nice. He just pulls her away from me and as I walk away he walks with her to class. She stops crying as soon as I'm out of sight. It is heartbreaking to see her so upset about me leaving her. It makes me feel stressed for the rest of the day.
When I'm not dealing with my children, I'm working, cleaning house or doing laundry. I am in need of a vacation, of quiet time, of time in general. One of these days I am going to take a day for myself. A day where I do absolutely nothing, unless that nothing is something fun.
Do you ever feel that life gets in the way of, well, life?

Everyday. :)
I sometimes see people doing leisurely things and wonder how they squeezed in the time. But then I realize my life is of my own making. If I only worked the day job and gave up my writing career, I'd have the evening hours and days off for leisure. Then again that would also leave more time for the things I let slide like housework. Hmm.
At any rate, I'm in a slightly different boat as I don't have children. I can't imagine how difficult it is to carve out 'me' time as they're a 24 hr job. On the kid note, "Yay!" for Smurfette and the volleyball win! And "hugs" to Monster (and you) on the anxiety thing. Just know that it WILL pass.

Hi Beth
You are correct, life is of my own making. It might not be alone time, but the evenings walks that I take with the girls is my favorite time of the day. It gives us a chance to talk about things.
BJ,
Yep. I'm busy. I have so many things going on, I often get confused. But I'm not bored. Nope. Not at all. Busy keeps the mind strong. Well, that and lots of coffee.
Re: Monster...Bribe her!
Hi Barb
Tried bribing her. It doesn't work.
