Yesterday, we went to visit Bobby. He lives in a very small town... if you can even call it that. There isn't even a gas station. On the way there, Pam warned me of the Labor Day festival that was going on. Lots of people and yard sales and games in town she says. She wasn't joking!
Every other home had a sale set up. There was people all over the place! Some were taking part in the festivities in town. There were game booths and food. A man sat up on the stage singing and playing his acoustic guitar. It was a pretty cool little festival.
Small town festivals always have a good feel to them. They may not be fancy or elaborate, but everyone is always having a good time. These festivals make me think of simpler times... simpler lives. Crafts, the dunk tank, relay races for the kids, homemade food, local talent, pie eating contests... ahhh sounds peaceful huh?
What local festivals do you like to go to? What is your favorite part?

Hi Brandy
When i went to see Bobby on Saturday they had a bunch of yard sales. I missed the festival. I paln on going to Thorntown's Changing of the Leaves Festival this year.
I didn't go but my parents attended the Labor Day Picnic/Parade in the next small town up the highway. :)
Brandy,
I went to the Florida Strawberry Festival for the first time this year. There was a midway with rides and games, arts and crafts, and of course strawberries and everything you can make with them. They even had potbellied pig races!
I'm sorry I missed that. I would have loved to be-bop around Lebanon!
Other than the Renn-Faire, I haven't been to any festivals this year and we actually have quite a few in this area. Next year, I'll make sure to go.
My favorite part? People watching!!!!
In my town we have the big seafood festival and a good arts festival. Down in Key West, of course, every October features the world famous, totally outrageous, Fantasy Fest.
For the local festivals, I love the music and strolling around to see the different vendors' wares. I also like that I'll run into at least a dozen people I know, if not more. Our community really supports these events.
BJ,
I saw the signs for Thorntown's Changing of the Leaves. It looks great. I hope I'm not working that week. Maybe we could go together!

Mary Stella,
Sounds like you live in a very festive area! I love to sounds of the seafood festival. I'm all in!! I would like to know more about this fantasy fest. I have somehow never heard of it.

Mary,
I really want to go to Fantasy Fest one day, it sounds wild! It would be quite a drive but well worth it, unless I was to take the sea shuttle from Fort Myers.
