Did Lee Harvey Oswald act alone in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy?  Or were others involved?  Some people think he couldn't have done it alone and that parties such as the CIA, KGB, FBI, Fidel Castro, the Mafia and many others were involved.

Was the Apollo moon landing real, or were the NASA pictures shot in a studio?

Was Princess Diana's car accident really an accident?  Or was it some elaborate murder plan to prevent further scandal to the English throne?

Alien spaceship or top secret research balloon?  What really crashed in Roswell in July of 1947?  Were there aliens aboard?  Did they survive?

Whether these events were conspiracies or not, they still make for great thought and discussion.  I always find it interesting to read all the different conspiracies that people create.  Some of them are very believable, and some of them not so much.  I guess it's all a matter of opinion.

Are you a conspiracy theorist?

Hi Bren

Great topic. I love reading books and watching shows about conspiracy theories. I am a total conspiracy theorist and proud of it. I tend to keep my thoughts to myself so people won't think I'm crazier than I already am!

I love reading about conspiracy theories, though some of them are totally whacked and funny!

The gang on Mythbusters, however, pretty handily debunked the moon landing being faked. Or they at least debunked the things in the moon landing footage that made people think it was faked. :)

No, not really. I do believe people can and do a lot of things to protect something valuable including murder.

You forgot Marilyn Monroe. Did she really commit suicide or was she executed/assassingated/murdered?

Brenda,

Interesting post. I used to be much more of a conspiracy theorist when I was younger, but the older I got and the more I researched the 'conspiracies' that interested me the most, the less convinced I became. I used to believe that the ones you mentioned were conspiracies, but now not so much.

It amuses me that so many people believe conspiracies involving the government and at the same time also think that the government is so inept and clueless. It seems to me that if you believe the former, you can't really believe the latter. And the more people that become involved, the harder it is to keep it a secret.

That having been said, conspiracies of one sort or another have existed before and will continue to exist as long as there are people around to conspire.
