Yes, sometimes I envy the talent of say Elvis, or MJ or the Beatles, but then I think of the curse they have all had and I want no part of it. I'm pretty content with my very minor talents. They're enough to make me happy.

SIS BrenSisters-in-Synchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05604043398648797517noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4650695048667568375.post-48604378071400178982010-03-11T20:05:46.763-05:002010-03-11T20:05:46.763-05:00Hi Barb

Simply said, I want it all.

Some would say Kurt Cobain was touched by Leanan Sidhe. I'll throw another name into the mix, though I can't say how old he is/was. The designer Alexander McQueen. Simply brilliant and gone too soon. Oh sure, I'd love to be a genius author with a gazillion books on the best seller list, a movie version for every one of them, and for my name to be as easily recognized as, oh let's say, Stephen King's. On the other hand, do I really want to die young or lose the mind that I value so much? It might not be much, but at least it's mine!

On a different note, how many of these same people who've been 'blessed' by Leanan Sidhe had to die before they actually became famous? Take for example, many of our most famous artists. Really, when you think about it, how sad is that? They didn't even KNOW how famous they were going to be. What a bummer.

To be immortalized has its merit, I'll wager. But I'll have to pass.

Great topic, btw!Alyson Reubenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10233804636662093697noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4650695048667568375.post-37707583364384942462010-03-11T14:58:29.836-05:002010-03-11T14:58:29.836-05:00I think I'd have to politely decline, too. Unfortunately, any brilliance she might inspire in me would most likely be way too short lived for me to enjoy. To be blessed with the genius as some of the artists you mentioned above would be thrilling, to say the least. But the price is awfully high.

I'm not sure that it would be worth it to me to live as a tortured soul in order to create brilliant art. At the same time those balls of fire burned out early so their suffering was short lived. That's something. Hmmm.

Okay. I've decided.
