In my "Disney/Pixar" frenzy, I forgot to mention one of the first animated MOVIES I ever saw that totally caught my imagination as a child (mainly due to the realism): Max Fleischer's "Gulliver Travels." I can still sing most of the songs from memory. It was even more exciting, as I got older, to find this was the same man who gave us "Popeye," "Koko The Clown," "Superman" and that NAUGHTY (HI, BETH!:)) "Betty Boop."Richardnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4650695048667568375.post-12504765693816260212009-07-27T11:31:22.809-04:002009-07-27T11:31:22.809-04:00Being the "oldster" that I am, some of m...Being the "oldster" that I am, some of my fondest memories from childhood include going to the THEATER to see "NEW" Disney movies, such as "Mary Poppins" (sat in the theater while Mom and Dad switched off shopping at the stores nearby and watched it twice!), "Blackbeard's Ghost" (VERY scary and fun for my 9-year-old self!), "The Love Bug" (saw that one @ a drive-in; it was followed by a "Matt Helm GROWN-UPS" movie that we were supposed to be asleep during ... SUPPOSED to be;)!), and in "later years (12 y.o.!) "Bedknobs an Broomsticks."
I have no end to appreciation for the recent Disney/Pixar movies, including all the above mentioned, the most recent one I watched and enjoyed being "Wall-e." Good stuff!Richardnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4650695048667568375.post-7784306637846769862009-07-26T20:45:12.642-04:002009-07-26T20:45:12.642-04:00Hi Tori! Another old favorite is Bedknobs & Broomsticks.

Two of my favorites from the current era are Cars and The Incredibles. Watching Cars really reinforced my desire to make the Route 66 trek across country some day.

G-Force looks hysterical. And it cracks me up that it's a Jerry Bruckheimer production.Tori Lennoxhttp://www.torilennox.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4650695048667568375.post-115012754716359322009-07-26T09:10:30.159-04:002009-07-26T09:10:30.159-04:00Taylor,

And The Muppet Movie is a huge favorite. Always cry when Kermie sing 'Rainbow Connection'. Another fave: Muppets Christmas Carol!

Olga... Now I have to go google 'G-Force'. :)

Becca... Ah, yes, Beauty and the Beast. Another fave!! And Cinderella? That's just classic. What young girl (or woman) doesn't want to be Cinderella. Great choices. :)

SIS BethBeth Ciottahttp://www.bethciotta.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4650695048667568375.post-41607994976544958652009-07-26T09:03:58.907-04:002009-07-26T09:03:58.907-04:00Barb, thanks for flying solo. I'll just go with the first that spring to mind.

As for a fave Disney film of the past, I'm with you: Mary Poppins. I watched this over and over as a kid. I know al the somgs by heart. When Steve and I were in London a few years ago they prenired a 'Broadway' version of movie on stage. I wanted to badly to go. I told Steve I didn't mind seeing it alone (it's not his cup of tea) He surprised me by buyin TWO top notch tics--orchestra/center. The show was amazing, many of us sang along, and when Poppins flew in OVER OUR HEADS holding on to her umbrella--I cried. It was one of the very, wonderful things STeve has done for me. :)

Fave Pixar film of the last decade: Toy Story. I love a lot of Pixar films, but Toy Story is an incredibly special film. Such humor. Such heart.

Oh, and, I too love Scrat. Every time he went for that acorn I laughed out loud!Beth Ciottahttp://www.bethciotta.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4650695048667568375.post-77843641883668022252009-07-25T22:15:08.280-04:002009-07-25T22:15:08.280-04:00SO I'm pretty much a Disney musical freak. I think that Monsters Inc. is a great film, but I can't think of anything that would be deemed "from the past". Unless you count anything from the 80's! If so, anything with Muppets!!Taylornoreply@blogger.com
